It is recommended that every group attempting to hike this trail bring along at least one hiker with a little bit of mountaineering experience. Hikers are advised to take their time and bring along light mountaineering gear, including an ice axe, some crampons and a rope. Also, as this is a very remote area, hikers must pre-arrange a pick up at their destination. The trailhead is located at the Chatterbox Falls Provincial Campground, where hikers will follow and obvious trail out of the area. The trail quickly gains elevation, and eventually comes to a waterfall (great for showering). Shortly after, there are a few campsites, but those who choose to soldier on will come to a boulder that requires some tricky maneuvering to get around (there is a rope in place leftover from past attempts). Approximately 1km (and 30m up) from the boulder is Loquilts Lake, where hikers can choose to spend the night or set up a base camp for further exploration. The trail continues on over steep and dangerous terrain. Hikers will cross a couple of glaciers before reaching the Sun Peak summit. After a celebrating their achievements, hikers will descend the snowy slope to the east, staying right on the following trail. The trail here has no markers, but is fairly straightforward and easy to follow, with a few camping areas along the way. Hikers should continue to keep right, and after descending the steep north east slope will find a marked trail that will lead them back to Sims Creek Valley, where the can be picked up.
